Samsung Galaxy Gear: render imagines smartwatch based on leaked patent

Looks the goods.

A 3D designer has given us some insight into how the Samsung Galaxy Gear might look, after working up a ‘what-if’ render based on a leaked Samsung patent for a smartwatch.
Created for the discount site Voucher Codes Pro, the designers’ handsome imagining of the Gear includes a flexible screen of the sort that Samsung is known to have been investigating for some time.

The clasp of the tech giant’s foray into wearable tech features 'home' and 'back' buttons of the kind that grace every Android smartphone.
How much this will look like this finished article is anyone’s guess. But we know we’re fans of this particular render. And it also looks like we won’t have too much longer to find out how close the site has come to the real thing.
Samsung is now expected to drop the Galaxy Gear in early September at the same press event at Berlin’s IFA trade show that will also mark the launch of the Galaxy Note 3.



Like rival efforts from Sony and Apple, the Gear is unlikely to make and take calls, but is intended to be paired with owners’ smartphones to allow them to access key features remotely.
